Another cold front is rolling in as we get ready to brave the sea of shoppers out there gearing up for the holidays. Have you thought about shopping local this season? You can get some great deals and your purchases go a long way. Plus, you will probably find that you are getting so much more than a gift. In most cases you get to meet the people that your are buying from directly. You can hear their stories and find out why they pour their hearts and souls into their work.
For instance, City Coffee Company in St. Augustine, FL, is a perfect local place to refuel and do some holiday shopping. The gracious owner Robyn Mooney supports the local talent in her community by hosting events at her hip coffee house. She has art exhibits, jewelry shows, open mic nights and book sales.
City Coffee Company is St. Augustine’s favorite place to sip a cup of locally roasted, freshly brewed hot or iced organic coffee or tea and enjoy fresh and healthy foods. There’s plenty of parking, free Wi-Fi, and a relaxing atmosphere. I go there every week to catch up with friends and work on my writing. They happen to serve my favorite local coffee brand too; Kahawa! It’s a MUST try for it’s silky dark flavor.
Stop by tomorrow, November 18th from 11-2pm for the Holiday Book Sale Event, where you can meet and mingle with the authors and purchase signed copies of their books for the readers on your shopping list.
I will be there with my Young Adult fiction series, The Geneva Project. It’s a great gift for any teen readers in your life. Fans of series like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Divergent and Twilight are hooked on The Geneva Project.
N. Jane Quackenbush, author of the beautifully illustrated children’s book, The Rocket Ship Bed Trip, will be there as well. Her educational children’s book is the perfect bedtime story for any of the little readers on your shopping list. It makes a great baby shower gift as well.
Stop by to warm up with some excellent local coffee, amazing food and a good book!
